Moving to NYC for the first time - community centric neighborhood recommendations?

hi! my partner and I are moving to NYC for the first time for work, while also starting our family. Without knowing too much about the city, we are not sure where to target our apartment search (we’ll be visiting soon to check out a few areas). We are hoping to stay in the area long-ish term, so would really like to find a neighborhood that we can grow into as a family and also make some friends! Our priorities are: family friendly, community-centric/ability to meet people, commutable to midtown, and a laid-back feel. We are thinking somewhere in Brooklyn, Queens or NJ (Hoboken?). Would love any recommendations ❤️ thank you! submitted by /u/Coffee-girl-1921 [link] [comments]
